Six years ago today, Eric Garner was killed by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo for selling loose cigarettes. Garner was pinned to the ground in an illegal chokehold when he said his final words: “I can’t breathe.” Pantaleo was fired last year – but he was never criminally charged.
