This is my husband. He is an ICU/Pulmonary doctor here in SATX where the COVID spike is still going strong. I watch him leave the house everyday for the hospital, the domestic battleground these days. He wears two masks so tight that there are indentations on his head for hours after. The safety glasses have given him the raw bump on his nose. On average, he sees dozens of patients a day, sometimes 12 days straight. He tells me about plasma transfusions, intubations, machines that perform CPR so less hands need to be on a COVID patient. And while my husband is one of the most emotionally strong people I know, you can see the heaviness in his face and hear the fatigue in his voice. This pandemic is real. This pandemic is killing way too many people. Doctors like my husband will be there to do their best to save lives, but it shouldn’t have gotten to this point. PLEASE wear a mask.
