Photo by @クリス・バーカード The massive and uniquely shaped peak of the Matterhorn was created by erosion from multiple glaciers diverging from the peak. It has often been referred to as the mountain of mountains and is a symbol for the Alps in general. The Matterhorn is the largest peak in Europe, reminding us how truly small we are in the face of nature.
You can see a lone paraglider in front of the massive face for scale. Paragliding initially began as a military training exercise for paratroopers and has now blossomed into a popular sport in Europe.
