Originating in the Green Swamp between Tampa and Orlando, the Hillsborough River (and the Green Swamp watershed) provide most of the drinking water for the Tampa Bay area. When the river gets flowing with summer rains, there are Class II rapids just a few miles from downtown. Hillsborough River State Park is one of my favorite places close to home and one of 175 Florida state parks that have been selectively reopening since early June. #river #freshwater #statepark #tampa #KeepFLWild
