As we couldn’t have put it better than this video’s director himself, we let @erikmadiganheck talk about the inspiration and those who made this all possible, because whether it is physical or digital, fashion has been, is and will always be about the collaboration and the people. « For Haute Couture Week 2020 in Paris, (which takes place over the next three days), I directed a film for my dear friends’ brand Aganovich, who are using this short stop-motion animation in place of a physical runway show. With covid19 preventing brands from being able to show at this moment, and some smaller brands from even creating collections altogether, I used stills from a photoshoot at the end of last year we had created together and never did anything with. I enlisted my other friends to help out- Frits Wentink made an original record to score the animation- and Matt Occhuizzo tirelessly strung all the frames together. My wife Brianna hand-painted the lettering in the beginning of the film, and my buddy Ryan ran technical oversight. The film is based loosely on Alexander Calder’s Le Grand Cirque from the late 1950’s. Calder lived in my small town of Roxbury, CT, and his circus films have always been some of my favorite works.
