Include your pronouns in email signatures, social media profiles & name tags Listen. Do you have any idea what a big deal it is for cisgender folx to lead in offering their pronouns and normalize asking?? If a trans and non-binary person is afraid of being misgendered, which is OFTEN the case, and a thoughtful person gently offers theirs and asks for others, it gives trans and non-binary folx an opportunity to share without it feeling like a new and weird concept. Let us start normalizing that we can't make assumptions. That you can't look at someone and know what their gender is. You can't know someone's gender by the way that they dress, their hair style, their voice, their name, their anatomy, by their relationship name (mom/dad/smuncle/niece/nephew/partner etc). The only way to know what someone's pronouns are is to ASK! "Hey! My name is king yaa. My pronouns are they, them, king! What's your name and pronouns?" Alternatively, you can say "I use they/them/king! pronouns. How about you?" In my profiles, I include my pronouns. And I appreciate when people contact me and I know what theirs are. This may not be incredibly important when communicating with them, but it is helpful when speaking about them. "Hey. You really want to check out @_insearchofagarden. They have a great IG page and I think her content on trauma and yoga is dope!" **Note: I used they/she because Catherine shared their pronouns on their page! I also want to share that even when you ask, that nobody owes you their pronouns. People decide when and if they feel safe to share or if they simply do not want to. And that is okay.
