This man accomplished unimaginable triumphs in film and in his career. So many people even today understand music in all its specificities but the gift that Ennio had was he knew how to translate music into emotion. And when you watched a film that was scored by Ennio Morricone. You felt something. What the director had put on screen was being elevated in a way that was unimaginable. Communicating, every nuance and subtext of that scene in every note. Telling the story. My favourite film of all time. Certianly my favourite Italian film of all time is Tornatore’s “Cinema Paradiso”. If you swipe right you will see the very end of this film. A film I watch at least once a year, and a film I weep at the end, every single time. Today I will watch but this time the ending will have a different meaning as it will signify the ending of another kind. The ending of the great life of Italian Composer Ennio Morricone.
