I have traveled to 15+ countries and can say from experience that we have some of the friendliest and most generous citizens. That being said, I won’t delude myself to think that we are the greatest country in the world. I’m not even sure how you would measure that. Would you use the happiness of its citizens? Because we aren’t even in the top 10 of highest life satisfaction by country. Would you use life expectancy of its citizens? Because we rank number 46 in that regard. Would you use GDP per capita? We are ranked number 19. Quality of life? Number 15. Education? Not number one. Healthcare? Not number one. Number of incarcerated citizens per capita and military spending? Hey we win those! 😂 Most of us (especially the younger generations) are down to earth and recognize that while we are great, we have flaws. So, instead of telling someone whose viewpoint differs from yours to move somewhere else (ironic because we tend to pride ourselves on the big “melting pot” of ideas, cultures, etc.), let’s be willing to not only work on fixing said flaws, but also have a sense of humor about ourselves.
