For decades, #FDA guidelines have limited #gay and #bisexual men from donating blood “to reduce the transmission of #HIV by blood.” Despite eased guidelines from increased testing technology in 2020, healthy gay men are still not able to give blood because of policy that blankets the entire gay community rather than an individual risk-based assessment for all donors.

We reached out to several gay men, including #COVID-19 survivors, who were turned away from donating blood or their convalescent plasma that contains antibodies for #coronavirus research.
