As COVID-19 spread in a Texas jail, Dalila Reynoso was determined to protect those detained inside.
She began regularly staking out the facility, tracking the jail’s population and the coronavirus case count. She also started collecting complaints from jailers and detainees, questioning Sheriff Larry Smith and other officials in public and private forums and counseling distraught family members.
