Here are some facts about those incredible seven days 19 years ago that virtually sealed the F1 world championship title long before the season ended: . 24 June 2001: European Grand Prix, Nurburgring: . • Ninth race of the season, in which Schumi had already won four times; • Michael put the Ferrari F2001 on pole by over a quarter of a second ahead of brother Ralf Schumacher in the Williams; • From top spot on the grid he powered to victory over Juan Pablo Montoya in the other Williams; • The German driver left Germany with a 24 points lead over McLaren' David Coulthard; . 1 July, 2001: French Grand Prix, Magny Cours: . • Ralf turned the tables on his older brother a week later by claiming top spot on the grid for the race in France, with Michael second. • Despite a launch control glitch early in the race, the Ferrari driver took the lead before the halfway mark and stayed there to win a second race in seven days! • Thereafter the championship was a mere formality as he left Magny-Cours 31 points clear of the next best. • By the end of the season he had wrapped up his fourth world title by a record margin of 58 points . !!!
