today, while we celebrate #pride, we should also celebrate and remember the radical voices who paved the way for this movement. because of the courage of people like #marshapjohnson, LGBQT+ history looks the way it does. she, and so many others tirelessly fought for gay rights, trans rights, and equal love for everyone. let us also remember that it has only been 5 years since gay marriage was made legal in the US. We’ve come a long way... but the reality is we are still fighting for the same peace that Marsha marched for in 1969. THE FIRST PRIDE WAS A RIOT LED BY QUEER PEOPLE OF COLOR!!!! we have to keep going. all love is love that deserves to be treated equal and protected. praising Marsha and all the others who have encouraged us all to be on the right side of history 🌈 let’s all support black queer and transgender organizations today and every day!!!! & VOTE!!!! I see all you first time voters ❤️ your vote matters! “certainly the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender movement would not have been conceptualized in the same way had it not happened against the backdrop of the Civil Rights movement.” - Angela Davis
