Hey Friends. So, my awesome brother, Allen Drew has been directing the A Cappella group at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia for close to 20 years now and it’s been so inspiring watching him learn and grow from his kids and lead them with love. When the pandemic hit, his students were looking for a way to still sing together while doing something great for their community, so they came up with a fundraising project called WeHarmonizeU inspired by Jacob Collier’s IHarmU project. Participants sent in video clips of themselves singing and the group arranged music recordings around the melodies. Students were involved at every level, recording their parts, arranging the music, audio mixing, and doing video production. These kids are awesome! This musical fundraiser is providing financial aid for the GFS families that have been hit the hardest due to covid, as well as helping the school in its adaptation to remote learning needs for teachers and students. Since I’ve always wanted to sing in an A Cappella group, but have never had the chance, I asked if I could send a clip in and sing with Allen’s kids! It was a blast!
