Honda is an eight-week-old African civet that calls @zooville_usa home. For centuries, African civets were collected from the wild and kept by people in order to harvest secretions from their perineal glands. The secretion, known as civet, could make a pleasant perfume when highly diluted. The civet musk trade once played an important role in the economies of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, but thankfully, the demand for this product has decreased significantly in recent decades.
