I had recently graduated from college and was trying to apply for jobs online - but without knowing anyone or having any experience it was so hard to do from a distance. I just knew I wanted to live and work in LA. So my Mom picked June 25 and booked me a one way flight so I could be here to apply for jobs. (I did live in LA when I was 3 years old and most of my family lives in OC so I wasn’t totally alone) I arrived with just my suitcases and hit the ground running. I ended up getting a job working for free at an entertainment PR agency (to have some sort of income, I worked as a hostess at a sushi restaurant nights and weekends and I still eat there every week) and eventually someone quit at the PR agency and I was offered an entry level paying position. Fast forward 11 years later and I never would have thought I would be where I am today. I had big dreams and goals but I had ZERO idea how I’d make it happen - but I was determined to do it. So many times things stood in my way, opportunities turned me down or I was forced to pivot - but all of those things, good and bad, got me to where I am today.
