Elijah McClain was a 23 year old kid from Aurora, CO. “McClain worked as a massage therapist, and taught himself to play both the guitar and the violin. He often spent his lunch breaks at local animal shelters, putting on concerts for cats and dogs because he believed music would help soothe their anxiety.” He was coming home from buying tea when police beat him, strangled him and injected him with ketamine and he died of a heart attack. His last words in body cam footage are chilling and revealing — he’s apologetic and cordial and thoughtful to the point of absurdity. You wonder why #DefundThePolice is a demand? This is why.
