unicefさんのインスタグラム写真 - (unicefInstagram)「The DR Congo has officially declared an end to its 10th #Ebola outbreak in the east of the country.⠀ ⠀ Like the battle against #COVID19, the battle against Ebola is a team effort of epic proportions. Since the start of the crisis, there have been over 3,400 cases of Ebola in eastern DR Congo. Today, there are none. ⠀ ⠀ As we celebrate, we take time to thank the health heroes, the doctors, nurses and nutritionists, who cared for patients with compassion behind the masks, protective suits and plastic screens. Despite the danger posed by both disease and conflict, they pressed on each day determined to save lives. ⠀ ⠀ We thank the survivors, many of whom used their immunity to return behind the protective screens of the Ebola Treatment Centres and care for children with such dedication. ⠀ ⠀ We thank the ‘lullabies’, also made up of survivors, who helped give support and protection to children orphaned and temporarily separated from parents being treated for Ebola. ⠀ ⠀ We thank the child protection specialists, psychologists and teachers who helped children move on from Ebola and reintegrate into schools and communities, despite the horror and loss, making sure that a brighter future is possible.⠀ ⠀ We thank the decontamination teams, who climbed into hot, stuffy suits on a daily basis to help disinfect hundreds of health facilities, households, public places and schools, to make them safe again. ⠀ ⠀ We thank the community leaders and health workers who helped spread lifesaving information to millions of people across the region through radios, churches, mosques, airports, markets, meetings and door-to-door visits. ⠀ ⠀ And we thank YOU! Our supporters who gave so generously to support the Ebola response - and continue to help us face the menace of other dangerous diseases. And to our partners at the DR Congo Ministry of Health, @who and countless others who stood with us shoulder to shoulder. Our response against Ebola continues with the latest outbreak in western DR Congo. Together, we will overcome Ebola in DR Congo.
