It was right around the time of the park’s reopening from covid closures, and I arrived at Temple of the Moon before sunrise. I had never been there before, and as the sky lightened and the scene was slowly revealed, I was overwhelmed by that familiar excitement of exploring a new space from behind the lens. Little wildflowers were beginning to sprout from the dry earth, which of course felt very metaphorical at a time when the world was slowly emerging from quarantine.
