Dear pops - you taught me so many things: how to ride a bike (and a riding mower), how to catch a ball (though that one never really stuck). You taught me about theater and the arts, but you also taught me how to use tools and build things. You taught me how to tie a tie (and then refreshed me on my wedding day). You taught me that it is totally okay for men to cry and show their feelings... and you also taught me what scary/violent alpha-male rage looks like... BUT THEN YOU SUBSEQUENTLY TAUGHT ME THAT WE, AS MEN, CAN AND SHOULD DO THE WORK TO CHANGE OUR BEHAVIORS THAT HURT OTHER PEOPLE. Because YOU made those changes, and you did so through your humility, your willingness to be wrong and your deep dedication to becoming better man. You taught me to to keep showing up no matter what and no matter how hard by doing so for me - every time and without fail. I am the man I am because of you and will never be able to express the breadth of my gratitude. I love you. Happy Father’s Day.
