For a little girl whose life was defined by war, the smallest things can make a difference. Safa lost her leg when a shell landed beside her in her home in Syria, and spent the next four years going from place to place with her family, seeking respite from the violence that surrounded them.⠀

In one such refuge, a UNICEF-supported refugee camp in Jordan, she voiced three wishes to Abedelmajeed, a @unicef_jordan colleague: to have a prosthetic leg that fit, to have her own bed, and to find a home in Canada.⠀

The volunteers in the camp sprang into action - they began referrals for a new leg, and those in the workshop built a bed, painted pink just for Safa 💕. Not long after, she got her third wish - now she lives in Canada, with her family. ⠀

It was never easy for Safa, but with the support of her family, friends, and UNICEF, she’s on the road to a full, happy life. Today, her wish is “for the #COVID19 crisis to pass, and to have a chance to go back to school.” #RefugeeDay⠀
