But as the once-enslaved peoples would soon find out, Emancipation did not translate to FREEDOM to safely live their lives, love their families, pursue happiness and enjoy all of the rights of citizenship (see the excellent history lesson by @eji_org in my stories). And as the fight for racial justice continues even today, so continues our pursuit of this TRUE freedom.
