SAY HER NAME - Oluwatoyin Salau 🙏🏽she was only 19 and she is an ancestor now. I really am so tired, so weary of speaking about black lives lost! What are we doing to protect black life? She was a baby y’all. She put her body on the line to speak truth and work for systemic change for black people. And she was not protected. She was not safe.

After tweeting about being sexually assaulted and reporting the incident to the police, including providing DNA evidence, she went missing and was found a week later, no longer alive. She had more life in her to live and she deserves justice. She needed to be protected. The man who strangled her is in custody.

This is so painful to sit with as a mother. I’m just praying for her family. I didn’t want to speak and I don’t really have words right now. But I honor the life she lived and the legacy that was in the making. May we protect our women, our leaders. Lord cover them. This is why my prayers always stay on those who fight on the front lines, because we are all here on borrowed time.
