Follow us at @abroaderway where you can learn more and join our movement!⠀ ⠀ The A BroaderWay mission is to Amplify the Power of Young Women through the Arts. We have been doing this for ten years, and here is some of what we have learned. The consequences of systemic oppression of Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC) is in every structure of our society. We know that Covid-19 has disproportionately affected Black and Brown communities, that income gaps across racial and ethnic groups persist, and in some cases are wider than in 1970. We also know that while women continue to be vastly underrepresented in business leadership, it's even worse for women of color. Only about one in five senior leaders is a woman, and one in twenty-five is a woman of color. Addressing this gap requires more than a shift of consciousness for corporate America. It requires a deep and long-term investment in the personal and professional development of young women of color, among other things. A BroaderWay has proudly partnered with hundreds of Black and Brown girls, their families and schools, to provide sustained and rigorous leadership training during the formative years of middle and high school. As these Future Leaders develop practices for full self-expression, authorship, collaboration, conflict resolution, accountability, and working with rigor and accountability, they become equipped and inspired to show up as leaders - in their families, communities, and the workforce.⠀ ⠀ Tomorrow is my last day here on Idina’s page.
