I grew up hearing stories about my uncle Said (Sa-eed).
He was 20yrs older than my father, and was responsible for naming him when dad was born. Dad would tell me, "Everyone knew your Uncle Said." "He would tower over people." "His voice was so deep, you could feel the ground shake."
A mythic character.
I remember always asking my dad to tell me more about Uncle Said. Asking when I would get the opportunity to finally meet him.

I was 26. We were in Ghana.
Uncle Said was quite a bit older. He was sitting. He was quiet. But he had this energy.
And then... he stood. And, indeed... he towered over me.
And then... he spoke. And, indeed... I felt the ground shake.
It was emotional.
We had never met before. But I knew of him and he knew of me.
I can't explain the connection.

We didn't get to spend much time together, but you impacted my life in ways you'll never know.

I love you.
I miss you.

Rest In Peace, Uncle Said Majdoub. ♡
