Photo by @nicholesobecki | Families wait for a food distribution supported by a group of Kenyans living in Ireland, who launched a fundraiser to support those evicted from their homes in Nairobi’s Kariobangi settlement. Kenyan authorities forcibly evicted more than 7,000 people from land in an area known as Sewage this past April, defying a court order and leaving many stranded and homeless in the midst of the pandemic. Compounding these challenges, the country has also faced a devastating desert locust invasion and excessive rainfall, creating a perfect storm for food security this year.
