But she was fired from her job and rejected by some family members. Fearing she might be detained again, she fled to Canada where she was granted political asylum. She took her own life on Saturday. “To the world,” she wrote. “You’ve been greatly cruel. But I forgive.” The unbelievably cruel persecution that led Sarah to commit suicide must end.
