MAILINGS to include notices of non-discrimination in multiple languages. ARE 👏 YOU 👏 F*CKING 👏 KIDDING 👏 ME??? 👏👏👏 . This is an INTENTIONAL ATTACK considering it blatantly flings the door wide open for trans people to be denied healthcare during the middle of a GODDAMN PANDEMIC. During #pridemonth. And on the 4th anniversary of the #pulsenightclub massacre — a horrible terrorist attack aimed at the LGBTQ community. . Simply put, it’s not just a slap in the face, it’s dehumanizing. . Here’s what you need to know: . • The rule strips language as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that broadened the protected class of “sex” by the Obama administration to include “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” . • This makes it “okay” for a health care provider or ins co to refuse to treat someone if their gender identity & sex assigned at birth don’t match . • It also removes the regulation to include notices in MULTIPLE languages — meaning translated versions of correspondence & communications to explain coverage, services or rights or other vital info won’t be readily available to LEGAL immigrants who speak certain languages. Wtf. . • The argument is that this will help “reduce confusion” on what sex discrimination means, bc apparently our president thinks it should only apply to cis individuals. (Seriously, 🖕) . • ICYMI - there is also a piece that allows for denial of treatment based on a person’s pregnancy termination hx.
