I was recently offered an ‘Alumni Fellowship’ by my old drama school @cssdlondon I turned it down because of the countless reports of racism & discrimination I was hearing about from current & past students committed by the school & it’s then Principal Gavin Henderson. I turned the Fellowship down and signed a petition to have Mr Henderson removed. I agreed to help advise the school on their search for a new principal. I told them straight ‘you need to adapt or die’. Now, thanks PURELY to the courage, determination and GUTS of @luckyshanniiee & many other student campaigners @cssdlondon has finally started telling the TRUTH (see statement) & is trying to begin a journey of self-education that I hope will benefit ALL of their future students. If you are student of colour who was damaged by your drama school journey, I am so sorry. I too felt worn down by my own experience there & felt powerless to challenge it. Yet years later, so many of you - @archmadekwe to name one very special- have said ‘NO MORE’ & put your livelihoods & mental health on the line to create real sustainable change.
