ヴァレンティン・トーマスさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ヴァレンティン・トーマスInstagram)「Happy World Ocean Day everyone (no fish was harm on this photo, I actually missed it 😜). ~ To celebrate this very important day, I would like to discuss an aspect of ocean conservation that is often forgotten, set aside or even taboo - seafood sourcing. ~ With over 1 billion people relying on seafood as their primary source of protein, we need to have serious discussions in order to find realistic and viable solution to create sustainable commercial fisheries. ~  33% of the world’s fish stocks are now considered overfished and this number keeps increasing since 1975 - I’m sure our infatuation with cheap sushi is no stranger to this! ~  With Asia being a leader in both wild capture (75% of the world’s fishing fleet) and aquaculture (86%), it becomes important to reduce our seafood consumption (ideally twice a week) and encourage our local fishermen (especially during this crisis). ~  As I mentioned before, if you’re looking for a life change work wise, maybe try responsible aquaculture in your own country! Governments normally have great funding for this and the demand keeps increasing!
