編集やライターという仕事は時間ばかりかかり、お金は儲からずロイヤリティーもない。YOUTUBERのようにはいかないのです。部数が売れても原稿料は変わらず、デジタル使用料なんてのもない。だから好きじゃないとできないけれど、その代わりにいろんな人の話を聞いたり、その人の人生の舞台を垣間見たりすることができる。初めて原稿料をもらって早２０年、いろんな仕事をさせてもらいましたが、これもまた灌漑深いものになりました。村上春樹さんのコレクションしたTシャツを集めた一冊「村上T」。レコード特集で自宅にお邪魔したときに、レコード以外にも何か収集癖がありますか？と聞いたときに出た答えが「Tシャツ」。無茶振りから始まった連載は毎回村上さん自身がポパイで書き下ろしたエッセイという豪華なもの。本にはその連載に掲載されたもの、そしてそこからこぼれたものたちも収録しました。連載を終えて追加で伺った話も載っています。Tシャツを買ったときの思い出や、着ていたらどう言われたかとか、小説とは違うゆっくりとしたユーモアあるお話は、様々な問題や事件を抱える、２０２０年の今の雰囲気とははっきりいって違いますが、ときにはゆっくりとして、ビールでも飲みながらクスリと笑う時間がどこかにあってもいいんじゃないんでしょうか？世界的な文豪と呼ばれる作家が、古着屋さんで２ドルまでの予算でTシャツを掘ったり、ライブに出かけてツアーTを買う。自分たちと同じようなことをして同じ言葉を話す村上さんのような人こそが、先輩というにふさわしいと思います。
　Im Happy to say that “Murakami T” will be out today. I met Haruki Murakami, the renown writer when I was working on Record Issue for Japanese magazine. He used to run Jazz record cafe called Peter Cat before he pursued his career as writer , and he is avid vinyl collector. I asked him if he collect anything besides record, as I thought he must have digger mentality as I saw the way he collected records. and his answer was “T shirt”. He traveled aroud the world and always go to thrift stores and find cheap used T shirt. The resold of conversation lead us to do his monthly column with Popeye magazine. “Murakami T” is the book contains all of his column adding more T shirts from his collection and interview with him by me. I think this is the first T shirt collection book by world renown writer. its maybe nothing relate to his great work such as “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle “ or “ Norwegian Wood” etc. its the book to stair and reed with beer in the early summer. We need to chill sometime, and this is the book to be your good company for that.
