I have reflected deeply and personally reached out to friends of mine who have a first hand perspective on what it means to be a black man or woman in the world today. I hear you and I have learned so much. Thank you all for the insight, it has been invaluable and very eye opening. I was living in a bubble. I do not see color, I do not target nor am I targeted for my race therefore I truly did not recognize racism for the problem it still is today. I can't ignore what I've come to learn.... racism is alive and well. It is a fact that the starting line for many black men and women, boys and girls is set so far behind that it's not even on the same playing field. Lets not forget that children often live what they know and essentially we are robbing them by not providing equal opportunities to those who need it most. Why are we allowing this oppression to continue? We need to change this, we need to break the cycle and we have to do it TOGETHER. I encourage you to be a part of the solution, sign petitions, protest, love your neighbor's, listen to those that have struggled, ask......LEARN!! Do your part and be the change the world needs.
