Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party and deputy chairman of the national BPP, speaking at a Chicago rally (held on October 29, 1969) against the trial of eight people accused of conspiracy to start a riot at the Democratic National Convention. Hampton has been identified by the FBI as a radical threat in 1967; less than two months after this footage was taken, Hampton was shot and killed in his bed during a predawn raid at his Chicago apartment by a tactical unit of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in conjunction with the Chicago Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The police described their raid on Hampton's apartment as a "shootout", yet it was later found that all but one of nearly 100 shots were fired by police. Historians and scholars now widely considered Hampton's death an assassination under the FBI's initiative. This footage is from a 1971 documentary, 'The Murder of Fred Hampton'—director Howard Alk and producer Mike Gray visited and filmed the unsecured crime scene, capturing footage that proves Fred Hampton was assassinated. I will put a google drive link to download the film into my stories. 💔 #fredhampton
