Of course I was immediately offended because I am a half minority, and even though I am half white, I still felt judged because I look different. Growing up in a predominantly white community, it’s something I’ve been grappling with my whole life. And even with the discrimination I had experienced, I know that it doesn’t even come close to what black Americans deal with every single day of their lives. But then I took a moment and looked deeper at what this person was saying. Although I still don’t agree with them, it dawned on me that perhaps it looked like I was jumping on a bandwagon because I’d never spoken up about it personally on social media until now. I felt like this was my own personal struggle that I wasn’t ready to share publicly and because I am not black I have no right to even speak up for the horrors they face every day. . . . But here is where I realize I can do way way better. I am sorry for my silence. I don’t want to perpetuate this state of complicity so many of us have been living in. The blaring posts of solidarity and anger are giving others the courage to step out from the shadows and make their voices heard. It’s not a bandwagon. It’s a lifelong march. I need to do my part and I am learning how to do it better. #blacklivesmatter #asians4blacklives #oneracehumanrace #interconnected Thank you @lov3child for making me think on this....」6月2日 14時44分 - priscillaahn
