There are so many people that have been taken from our community. Whether it be from police brutality, mass incarceration or stress from poverty and lack of opportunity. Justice should not be conditional. DA’s who are in lockstep with the PD should not be determining sentencing. A third degree sentence is not enough. The second degree charge in MN does not require pre-meditation, but does require intent. For the nearly three minutes that George Floyd lay motionless and the knee remained. That speaks directly to intent. Justice for George Floyd is justice for our community and for those that have suffered before him and into the future. On this Sunday, a prayer of safety for those standing up and speaking out.
