This evening I listened to @rachel.cargle discuss the revolution. A word that historically means different things for different people. As a woman, half white, half Latina; A feminist; A believer that all people are created equal; I realize that it isn’t enough to just be ‘not racist’. If I don’t understand the history, the story, the full picture then how can I possibly identify as an advocate or an ally. It’s uncomfortable to admit to needing to learn more and BE more to truly be able to stand in solidarity with the black community during this moment of civil unrest. It’s not enough to just sympathize and to be disgusted, or to even just post on social media how truly heinous it is that people without white skin in this country have to live in fear. To have to accept that their story matters less. That their LIVES matter less. The time is now. I’m starting by connecting to local civil rights organizations within my community. I’m investing in the education. I’m committed to being the ally that I always thought I was, but am now learning that the work has just begun. #georgefloyd #blacklivesmatter」5月31日 7時00分 - jogarciaswisher
