Though probably best known outside of Bowie fandom for his 1949 nude calendar shot of Marilyn Monroe and his images of other Hollywood celebrities, Tom Kelley was the photographer who also created magic with David Bowie 45 years ago.
In May 1975, at the Tom Kelley Studio in Los Angeles, he took a series of shots of Bowie that were first used for the Fame single release and a full page picture inside the 1976 ISOLAR Tour programme. But his most famous Bowie photograph is no doubt the iconic 1976 CHANGESONEBOWIE album cover, all reproduced here.
Kelley later said of the session: “Bowie took me back to the golden age of movie stars. He’s a visionary who looks into the camera as though he can see the finished pictures.” #RandomBowie  #BowieKelley
