Today is #EndangeredSpeciesDay. We need to celebrate the biodiversity all around us and protect our threatened and endangered species.
Orangutans are critically endangered as are many species of wildlife who share their rainforest habitat. Among them the proboscis monkey with its “Jimmy Durante” nose as well as many other primate species, sun bears, clouded leopards, pygmy elephants, Sumatran tigers, mouse deer, hornbills, storm storks, many colourful birds, snakes, frogs, butterflies to name but a few!
In Borneo and across Southeast Asia, wild songbirds are disappearing from the forest at an incredible speed. Much of the demand is from the rising craze for bird singing contests. This rising demand is threatening many bird species with extinction.
