The IWC Big Pilot ref. 5002 was introduced in 2002 (same year that Georges Kern joined the company as the youngest CEO within the Richemont Group). It was a tribute to the 55 mm Beobachtungsuhr from the WWII, but with a more modest diameter of approx 46 mm. The movement inside was a slow-beating automatic Pellaton calibre 5011 with 18.800 bph and seven days power reserve.
