This composite image shows the results of the Saffire-I, the first in a series of experiments studying fire in space, conducted in 2016. 🔥 Ignition occurred on the right, and each image after was taken at 40-second intervals, showing it became a steadily spreading flame front. Saffire-IV will take place after @northropgrumman’s Cygnus departs from the space station on May 11. It will use what has been learned from the first three experiments and take a more sophisticated look at spacecraft fire safety.
