Since I've been spending so much time alone during this lockdown, I've been discovering a lot. I was forced to stop working and take the time to work on myself, learning, crying and growing. There are many things in my life I am thankful for but also so much sadness, disappointment, heartbreak, regret and pain.
You might not know this but I've struggled with depression my whole life and it's always been a battle, nothing makes me happy. But there are "moments" that bring me joy and that's what this song is. Trying to remember the solitude moments that bring me peace, the little things that put a smile on my face.
For me, each day has always been a fight to keep going and I had to start by verbalizing what I wanted to be a truth "it's a new day, it's going to be okay or I'm feeling great". I know it sounds silly or might even feel like you're lying to yourself but words are powerful. I've learned from therapy that I'm very mean to myself and I say a lot of hurtful things to myself that I would never say to anyone else. "You're so stupid, you're worthless, you're ugly, you always make dumb decisions, it's all your fault, you'll never have xyz, you're a failure... etc". The more I say those things the more I believe it and it becomes a truth. So even if you're not feeling great or you're not sure you're going to make it - just try saying it. Once or twice, or in my case, constantly. However many times you need to until it becomes a truth for your life.
I hope you say something kind to yourself or to a friend who might need some love or encouragement today.
