イーライ・ロスさんのインスタグラム写真 - (イーライ・ロスInstagram)「Some sad news from Tromaville. Joel Reed, director of this notorious cult film and many others, died from Coronavirus. As a kid I was fascinated by films like this. Who made this? How did they get people to act in it? How did it happen? I got to answer these questions when my friend @abefromanking was working as editor at Troma and proposed me to @lloydkaufman to do the commentary track as a “blood and guts expert” when Joel refused to do it over some dispute. I was 25 and had never made a film but I was up for the challenge. I used Yahoo People Search (this was pre-Google!) to track down cast and get stories. I even got a few to sit down with me on camera. I even got Joel on the phone and when he realized I was a curious fan he warmly spoke to me and told me great stories. So weirdly I became an expert on the film and did a commentary treating the film like it was Taxi Driver. After I recorded it I randomly ran into Joel Reed on the subway and we had a great laugh. We even stayed in touch and I invited one of the cast (Detective Tucci) to a screening of Cabin Fever and we had a great time talking about Bloodsucking Freaks and Joel. Years later the genre writer Alan Jones called Hostel “Eli Roth’s Incredible Torture Show,” which was one of the original titles this film was released under. Strange how these things seep into your subconscious. My condolences to his family and friends, he was always extremely kind to me. RIP Joel. He has gone to join Sardu and Ralphus in that dungeon in the sky.」4月15日 11時18分 - realeliroth
