It allows them to brake harder, corner tighter and accelerate faster 💨 Rear brakes can vary a lot depending on what the rider prefers. Some riders choose to have just the traditional foot-operated brake pictured here, some prefer a thumb-operated system beneath the handlebar or some may even use a scooter style rear brake, something which has become more common. This is largely based upon the feel and confidence a rider has with one system over the other 🔄 To optimise the feel riders have with the foot-operated rear brake they use different strength springs over the pushrod that goes into the master cylinder. Stiffening up that spring gives more resistence to the lever and so a little more feel when applying the rear brake The cam stop is there to control the amount of free play in the lever and to stop the pushrod popping out of the master cylinder by preventing the lever from returning too far.
