Why memories might be so riveting and so much of an experience when you dive back into the thought of one specific time. I think maybe it’s a little easier to disconnect from our reality without deliberately meaning to and not really feeling what’s in front of you. We say “I’m doing this to pass time” meaning we might actually just be numbing out the present and not fully taking notice to how romantically imperfect our everyday is.... So a memory, one specific moment that completely captures our attention when we’re thinking of it.... or that we even go so far as to crave feeling that moment again, makes us practice presentness and depth.... but in another moment. So with that maybe we can try to use that practice and apply it to our right now.... how would you feel if your “right now” was a memory.... how would you see it? Maybe we should do that more often.
