Now is the time for us to focus on our own, our country’s and our world’s health and wellbeing. 🇯🇵 I fully support and am relieved about the decision announced today regarding the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics. It would have been devastating to see it cancelled but even more devastating to see it go ahead as planned, when it would have put so many more lives and people’s health at risk. Postponement, although complicated and difficult to fully take in as an athlete, is truly the best decision and I am grateful that the IOC are working hard to reschedule it - I really feel for the organisers and the hit this will have on Japan - but the Olympics gives hope and, through sport, passion and hard work, it shows how countries and cultures can join together and achieve amazing things. This is something I dream to be part of again, under the right circumstances.
