There’s nothing more #oddlysatisfying to me than scraping crusty dirt and poo off #PorterTheSteer. But raising our own steers for food sure isn’t easy. We do everything we can to make sure they’re happy, loved, pampered and respected. We can’t help falling in love with them or being heartbroken when their time with us comes to an end. We choose to suffer so that the steers that feed our family don’t have to. But in trying times like these you can’t find a more reliable food source than raising your own animals. This is just one of our many contingency plans to make sure we never go hungry regardless of circumstances. We got 730lbs of meat from our last steer, Kobe, and we give thanks to him every meal. We put between $5-6k into raising Kobe and he’s going to feed our family of four for a year (not to mention the best cuts of Kobe beef sell for around $50 an ounce at restaurants) so the quality of meet we’re eating is the best and the savings are HUGE.
