Everything feels so surreal and like I’m living under water. But I feel grateful for the 17 years we had together. So many moves and changes and laughs and cuddles and spats and ups and downs. We thought we were going to lose him three years ago and, in a way, that was the greatest gift. I spent every day of the last three years being present, soaking up every kiss and head rub and funny Turk flop that happened. I took *nothing* for granted with him. And I guess I can’t really ask for more. He knew how much we loved him. And letting him go when he was so uncomfortable was the last bit of love we could show him. I’m so grateful for our vet who gave him a little eulogy as we all sat together. It was a tiny moment of grace for our tiny prince. Our home will not be the same without him. And I miss him so much it physically hurts. But I know he’s not in any pain any more and that is what matters most. Thank you for the best 17 years, little bug.
