Katherine Johnson, a mathematician who broke barriers at NASA, has died at 101. She was part of a small group of black women mathematicians at @NASA whose crucial work was celebrated in the 2016 film “Hidden Figures.” Johnson’s calculations helped make the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 possible, yet throughout her decades at NASA, almost no one knew her name.
