Most people don’t remember this, but I was on the wrong side of one of Kobe’s greatest performances of his career. January 22nd, 2006, we head into LA for a routine regular season game. People forget, but 3 weeks prior he dropped 60 on the Mavericks, and I’m like COME ON, how can you let that happen. It’s one guy. So we were up at halftime, and very seldom were we up at halftime on the road. Kobe’s got 26 at the half. No big deal right. We are up by double digits.. And before I knew it, the MAMBA came out. Fadeways, steals, dunks, layups, short jumpers, long jumpers, 3’s, you name it. Staples Center was ROCKING…”Kobe! Kobe!” That walk off, the standing ovation, finger in the air, man I was so embarrassed. I’ve never spoken about it again, unitil now.
