Sharing one of @leilajanah ‘s last posts. #repost . . . I’m in Aspen for a few days for a conference, stealing time in the early morning to think. A rabbi friend recommended I read Tuesdays With Morrie, which I’d looked over previously for its sentimentality. It’s about a dying professor and his last student. I finally cracked it open yesterday and out came the wisdom, questions I’ve often asked myself in those rare moments when I escape the noise of email and work and everything else. Morrie, in dying, figured out how to live. And the questions he asks are the ones we can use to measure our days: “have you found someone to share your heart with? Are you giving to your community? Are you at peace with yourself? Are you trying to be as human as you can be?” I love these. Coming back to full speed at work, I’ve felt my tensions rise and my ambition to do more and go faster take over. It’s easy to go back to juggling five things at once, not being fully present with my friends and family, and rushing through life. Slowing down is an art. Focus is a discipline I’m trying to cultivate. And these questions are such a great guide! Read the book -- it’s pretty magical.」2月2日 14時55分 - sharonelawrence
