Shepard Faireyさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Shepard FaireyInstagram)「The name of this mural in NY’s East Village is “Vivi La Revolucion” because it’s a portrait of my daughter Vivienne, AKA Vivi… it's obviously a play on “Viva La Revolucion.” The mural was created as an urge for peace and a willingness to rise above our more destructive tendencies. The location of the wall is directly across from an elementary school and the content contains imagery that kids can relate to, but I also think that anyone can relate to the innocence and idealism of youth. Most prejudices are learned and then need to be unlearned.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣⁠ The mural is in an area where I spent a lot of time doing street art in New York in the ’90s. I’m grateful to the L.I.S.A. Project NYC, Wayne Rada for facilitating and the neighborhood for supporting. Unfortunately, the surface of the wall the mural is on is old and crumbling so it will probably be painted over or re-surfaced soon. I’ve told Vivienne that good karma is important, and that we get back what we put into the world. I’ll see what she thinks when I tell her she should check in with the karma police because here face is falling off! Anyway, something I accepted long ago is that street art, along with pretty much everything, is impermanent.
